BMW Director’s Report
August 17, 2020
Thomas Roy continues to translate material and to instruct our teaching staff in Bangladesh, per normal. He is hoping to have a graduation/training with 5-10 Bengalis he has been teaching over the internet right in West Michigan during Thanksgiving weekend.
Matthew is dealing with some controversy in Rajghat where the village council decided to ban BMW which had 38 students in two groups. They decided on a cooling off period of 2 weeks and an approach sometime this week by Matthew and Sanjoy. Bangladesh is moving toward 90% open.
I have completed a new teaching web document of our old content, the Five Assurances, which is now in the hands of our staff in Bangladesh. I sent the link to every board member. Also, thanks to Bill for forming a team with me and Thomas and Jayne to complete a Bible study curriculum based on the Topical Memory System by the Navigators. It is being translated with all speed for our 5th year students.
We held four Prayer Force meetings, all by zoom. Vicki’s was the newest group. A total of 24 attended. From Bangladesh we had visits by Dalwar, Matthew and Tithee.
The rickshaw arrived. I will speak a few minutes at Immanuel Church of Holland with the rickshaw as a prop on October 4. It can easily be moved by pickup truck. Makes a great visual to share with a church.
The money for the land was raised, plus $200. I have communicated that we expect to see a masterplan for the property by Easter of 2021.
This fall we will continue contacting people, holding at least 10 BMW cottage meetings. We now have about 6 weeks to get 10-20 meetings in. It is now a matter of just getting dates on the calendar and asking God to help people turn out. I have completed 3 new photo books to help with these presentations.
Looking further ahead
We are shifting to a two-team plan for the visit to Bangladesh due to the pandemic reducing people’s willingness to travel. We would arrive ahead of April 2 and have 3 weeks of graduations. Then there will be a three week BTCP course and we will return after May 17. Ticket prices from Grand Rapids are under $1000 right now.
What is our income so far compared to projections?
We targeted $360 K for the year. We have received $195 so far. That’s about $22K per month instead of $30K per month. With consistent work as a team, building our base, I believe we will catch up and reach our Base Camp I goal of $360 K by the end of the year.
What is occupying my mind.
Not what is occupying my time.
What are my challenges.
What are my opportunities?
What are my stressors?
Not “Did I get an A this month?”
A chance for them to give input, “Do you have any thought on that?”
Give them a pulse of my seat for the month and the pulse of the whole organization.
My view of how we are doing on the strategic plans, goals
New stuff I see coming down the pike.
What is coming up?
They should see what’s happening at the intersection.
They should see how I’m doing. That comes through in the tone.
How can they help me?
One page is sufficient. Less more.
How is the personnel doing?
