BMW Executive Director’s Report
June 5, 2017
Annual Report finished
Thanks to everyone for helping at the last minute to satisfy Calvary Church’s requirements. A “generic use” copy is yours today and is being sent to major donors.
Renewal of Advisory Council Members and New Member
I have received signed Advisory Council Covenants from Joe DeCook, Lynn Silvernale, Bruce Huseby and Craig Johnson. I recommend that the board approve each one for another year.
Visit to Bangladesh by Executive Director July 2-18
The purposes of the visit are #1 inaugurate the full personal discipleship program and #2 establish the accounting procedures that provide the BMW board with better knowledge and oversight of the financial activities there. As a result of this visit, Matthew and Mou and several top leaders will know how to assess a disciple’s status, how to target areas for growth, how to address the areas of weakness and how to record progress, beginning with the “five assurances.” Secondly, as result of this visit Matthew and Mou will know how to provide BMW with monthly financial reports that are understandable to our board and fit well with our accounting system.
My personal efforts to contact donors this month were to make personal Thank You cards to over 20 sponsors and write them a personal note. I also thanked the 22 participants in the Golf/Walk/Run and made personal Thank You cards for them to send to their sponsors (more than 200). A really good donor contact this month is noted below, resulting in increasing donations from both her and her network.
Executive Coaching gift
A contact made through our Golf/Walk/Run took a special interest in our ministry. MaryAnne Sirotko Turner has spent significant time with me and seems to understand how to help a ministry like ours as she has helped a number of others in the past. In 2013 we paid for Kent Wallace as a consultant and gained a significant fundraiser and a focus on our mission and job descriptions. I believe MaryAnne will help us at this juncture as we work on a new strategic plan. If there is no objection, I will send her a “gift-in-kind” receipt based on the invoice attached. To prepare for our next meeting, I am asking each board member to take the spiritual gift inventory at https://spiritualgiftstest.com/spiritual-gifts-test-adult-version/ and the strengthsfinder at https://www.gallupstrengthscenter.com/Purchase/en-US/Product. Strengthsfinder 2.0 costs $20. This will help us form a balanced, effective team as we start to work on our strategic plan leading up to our annual meeting in September.
Time Tracking program
Thomas and David and I are getting better at using the TimeTracking application. Thomas logged 219, I logged 214, David logged 137 and Matthew, using a different system logged 210. We did not evaluate the goals and results for the time spent, but that part will be implemented in time this year.
Leftover US visit funds use request
As requested by the board last month, here is the budget for Matthew’s plan to use the leftover funds.
